Is it neglect that rendered me so useless,
set my joints to collapsing – now a heap?
That which we no longer tend to,
loses lustre, less profit to reap…
When we store our dreams in corners,
time usurping promises, visions asleep…
Cherishing is what’s needed, for self, for hopes,
for environment: the fallout for neglect too steep.

That is actually a plastic bag. On our travels this past year we saw too many of them floating across the landscape. This one was flying across Nanaimo Harbour.
