V.J.’s Weekly Challenge #30: Windows

I find myself obsessed by windows, sizing up the framed image for photogenic qualities and potential watercolour subjects. What is it, I wonder, that has so captured my imagination?

For two-and-a-half years, confined to a bed, windows were my only connection to the world – one framing bird feeders and happy activity, and the other a beautiful tree that helped me map the seasons.

Now, sitting at my mother’s side, awaiting death, I feel as if another window has opened up – one that reminds us that this life is temporary, and although we cannot know what lies beyond, there is faith to guide us.

So this week, let’s think about windows: the symbolism, the images, the questions they evoke.

I look forward to your responses.
