V.J.’s Weekly Challenge #41: polish

As I’m contemplating this week’s challenge, American Idol is playing in the background, and my attention is captured by a young woman explaining that a year ago she went blind. She talks about the hardship of not only losing her sight, but the torment she received at the hands of her peers.

My eyes cloud up with tears and I can no longer see the page, so I set it aside to watch her audition. She sings “like an angel”, Katy Perry tells her. Lionel Richie, also crying, gets out of his seat to hug the young woman. I am bawling.

And then it hits me:

We are meant to shine, and that pain that she’s endured – that all of us endure at some point – that is just polish.

This week, let’s focus on the elements of our lives that have helped us shine. Not feeling very shiny? Then tell me (or show me) what kind of polish you need to get you there. I’ve got to believe it’s never too late.

  15. What is the different between A Woman’s Quest and A Woman’s Quest II. Sometimes the prompt is at this site and other times at the other site. Are they both the same?

  17. Wow, thank you so much for that video V.J. I never watch that program. Amazing grace it is. My son is clinically blind and my daughter was born with one blind eye. Makes us appreciate the little things we do have.

  18. I watched this young lady also. Hard not to get teary-eyed hearing her story. Shocking how she was mistreated by her peers. Happy that she went forward in the competition after group night.
