Just when I thought I knew where we were headed, life threw another curveball.
It happened simply enough. Ric experienced a brief period of blindness in one eye.
“Just the bottom half of the eye,” he’d tell the doctor later. “And some weakness in my left arm.”
The family doctor recommended a trip to Urgent Care and within hours he was referred to the Stroke Prevention Unit, who initiated a barrage of tests.
Not even a week later, he is advised not to drive. Two blocked arteries in his neck indicate he is a candidate for stroke. We are awaiting the next step as I write.
And just like that, I am the sole driver in the house, with Ric dependent on me.
Isn’t life interesting!

Life seldom unfolds in straight lines. It’s not necessary to repeat the prompt phrase, but this week let’s think about the times when life has turned an abrupt corner, or caught us off guard.
It’s easy to participate: just create a post on your own site and link back here. You might use the tag VJWC.
Look forward to your responses.
(If I am slow to respond this week, it’s because I’m otherwise occupied. I know you’ll understand.)

There is hope. Without treatment they said he has a 1 in 3 chance of a stroke.

Dear VJ, I’ve had you on my heart, in my thoughts ever since I ‘abandoned amenities’ (blog)–so you’ve not been forgotten by me. I’m distressed to hear of this latest challenge, Ric’s health scare–so I’ll be praying for you both fervently. Life is such a roller coaster! And I make take your writing challenge up again… 🙂 God bless you with strength and peace. “Fleur” who was always some other name, but same heart 🙂

Will be thinking about both of you as you move through this challenge.
