Unexpected

A photo of my favourite flowers revealed that I wasn’t the only one enjoying these beauties. Can you spot the butterfly wings?

Came upon this old car, complete with costumed actors, film crew, and security. Murdoch Mysteries playing out in our little town.

A protective arm from a big sister, who only moments ago had been her greatest rival.

Life is full of many unexpected and wonderful things. It also promises to present us with challenges.

Aren’t we glad it isn’t always just what we thought!

This week’s challenge was: “Just when I thought…”. I am also linking this up to Nancy Merrill’s A Photo A Week Challenge: unexpected, as it seems to fit.

Thank you to all of you who joined in, and whose input continues to delight me.

As I link up this week’s contribution, I am struck by one name that has been missing for some time, and sadly, will not be joining us again. Hélène Valliant of Willow Poetry has passed away. Her absence weighs heavy on the hearts of many who came to know her. I know I counted her amongst my online friends.

Tomorrow’s challenge is more of a sharing than a creative endeavour. I’ll see you then.

Permission to write, paint, and imagine are the gifts I gave myself when chronic illness hit - a fair exchange: being for doing. Relevance is an attitude. Humour essential.

  1. Yes, sad loss, and thank you so much for remembering her in such a lovely way. I take the butterfly wings, Helene is physically gone, but she is here if you look closely.

  2. Oh no! Even though I have been relatively new to the blogging world, I had enjoyed “meeting” Helene through Willow Poetry. I had been thinking about her the last week or so. And wondered what had happened. So sad.

  3. What a lovely post, VJ…aside from the sad note about Helene’s passing. Oddly enough, as I opened this latest blog I was mourning still the passing of Paul Lenzi–poet extraordinaire, and a fine gentleman, generous and caring toward all the blog poets he met. I have a quote I’ll post later–in memoriam.

      1. His heart was as big as his command of language, always astounding. Not to boast, just to share: shortly before he passed away I was moved to send him a gift–a few books, and some Seattle coffee and chocolate. I was so glad I listened to God’s leading–as it probably did more for me, than for Paul and his wife. His absence really left a hole in my life. And I’ve wondered how his wife is doing–she was in very poor health along with Paul…

      2. Yes, very odd indeed–a marvelous gift, to be sure, because it’s so remarkable. I think the reason I quickly let you know I was “back” was because in a comment on one of the last blogs, you’d said you worry when I was disappear. I knew you were sincere, and that we’d enjoyed the exchanges–as well as being mutual fans of our particular talents ❤
