The plan was to meet in a park so that the children could play and the adults could social distance. It’s Canadian Thanksgiving. Getting together with family is a tradition.
Three nights in a row, I have suffered insomnia. October has brought fluctuating temperatures and skies that shift from bright promise to somber clouds. My mood follows suit.
This day the clouds are undefined – just a slate grey sky whipping up taunting winds. My muscles falter along the hallway from bedroom to kitchen, and my head throbs with that hangover feeling of no sleep.
I don’t think I’ll be able to make it, I message the kids. Let me have my tea and a shower and see if I can rally.
The replies are reassuring: Focus on your health Mom. Stay home and rest.
I end up going back to bed, frustrate myself with another wasted day.
A simple supper, prepared by hubby, rallies me a bit. The winds have subsided and a ray of sunlight cuts across the room.
Tomorrow is a new day.

October can be moody, which prompted this week’s challenge: pathetic fallacy. Thanks to all who contributed. Looks like you had fun with this one.

See you tomorrow for a new challenge!
I have so many feelings reading this, but the strongest is admiration for staying with it, despite everything, strong stuff. That painting is sensational too.
