Hello pretty lady, want to chat?
No, just here to play the game.
Where are you from?
I don’t reply. I’ve downloaded the Words with Friends app, hoping to improve my mind. Seems every other opponent is just here looking for a mate.
Do people usually meets partners on this site? I messaged one man.
I don’t know, he replied, and then continued to prod for information. Eventually he asked me to delete him. Said he was looking for a wife.
Right!
Then I got a text from an unknown number: V.J. your package is detained at duty. Click this link to retrieve it.
I haven’t ordered anything. I deleted the message.
Scams are everywhere. Sometimes, they are laughable, and sometimes they can do a lot of damage.
Join me this week in focusing on the con, the scam, or the catfish. Participate by creating a post and linking back here, or dropping a note in the comments. Art, music, poetry, prose, or photos are all welcome.
Unexpected fuel for the imagination.

VJ, the attempts are in abundance via house phone, cell phone, computer and text. They tell you bought something and there is a problem, your bank account is compromised, your Microsoft software has been compromised, the IRS has a case against you, your fake grandchild has a $2,700 car issue, etc. Hyper-vigilance is needed to fend off the wolves.
