I don’t reply. I’ve downloaded the Words with Friends app, hoping to improve my mind. Seems every other opponent is just here looking for a mate.

Do people usually meets partners on this site? I messaged one man.

I don’t know, he replied, and then continued to prod for information. Eventually he asked me to delete him. Said he was looking for a wife.

Then I got a text from an unknown number: V.J. your package is detained at duty. Click this link to retrieve it.

I haven’t ordered anything. I deleted the message.

Scams are everywhere. Sometimes, they are laughable, and sometimes they can do a lot of damage.

  23. VJ, the attempts are in abundance via house phone, cell phone, computer and text. They tell you bought something and there is a problem, your bank account is compromised, your Microsoft software has been compromised, the IRS has a case against you, your fake grandchild has a $2,700 car issue, etc. Hyper-vigilance is needed to fend off the wolves.
