VJ’s Weekly Challenge: Describe but don’t reveal

Post a poem, prose, art, photograph, or other that illustrates but doesn’t reveal the subject. (Don’t forget to link back here.)

Here’s an example:

A Friend Indeed

Friend, you guide
my brain-fogged,
somnambulist limbs –
like a mindless automaton;
I follow, barely registering
movement – grateful for
deliverance into the
fullness of day.

Once, I abhorred
your consistency,
your stifling repetition,
found your dependency
mind-numbing, soulless –
suffocated in your lack
of notoriety – called you
unremarkable.

Undaunted, you persist,
morally unbiased, life-
affirming, ignoring
lethargy’s blood-
sucking hold, lifting
me, comforting,
habitually reliable,
blessed ______

Can you guess what I am?

Can’t wait to see your responses – love a good mystery.

Permission to write, paint, and imagine are the gifts I gave myself when chronic illness hit - a fair exchange: being for doing. Relevance is an attitude. Humour essential.
