Shades of Green

All is green, come summer here, the river and its banks, and the rolling fields of corn.

For Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Green.

Green Is A Novice

I catch myself playing that soul-stripping game of comparison, and come up feeling dreadfully inadequate.

My writing is lacking, my photography sucks, and it’s an embarrassment to self that I even post my art. Not actually – but this is the fallout from comparison.

I need to turn this thinking around: I am blessed to have the opportunity to create. Writing, photography, and art are an injection of vitality. How fortunate am I to be able to mingle and learn from those who have mastered the art. Everyday I am filled with inspiration.

Green, the focus of this week’s challenge, is also the colour associated with being a beginner. It is also the colour for “go”. So I am green as a novice and ready to grow. A wonderful place to be in.

A record number of responses have really inspired me this week. Thanks to all who participated.

CFFC: Windows and Greenery

My lens is drawn to windows, not for what I can see beyond, rather for the mystery they invoke.

I watch the world through the frame of a window – life passing while I lie still, praying for better days – certain that few would guess that I am here, wonder at my well-being.

Now, able to get out of the house, camera in hand, I wonder who else might be trapped behind a window, listening to the calls of the birds, the constant flow of traffic, or the sound of my footsteps echoing on the walk below.

Rain falls and windows take on a protective edge, promising shelter, and a front row view from a place of comfort.
