Mother I feel you under my feet…

Mother I hear your heartbeat…

Mother I see you when the eagle flies…

Mother please take me higher…

Lens-artists Photo Challenge this week is a ‘you pick’. Reena’s Xploration challenge is a sentence to be used at the end of the post. I am indeed challenged by Reena’s words.
Joan Osborne’s words come to me:
What if God was one of us?
Just a slob like one of us
Just a stranger on the bus
Tryin’ to make his way home?
A spiritual teacher and mentor once counselled that to live a sacred life, I should look for God in all I meet. Using the prayer/ ritual above, I approach nature in this way. ‘Higher’ to me speaks not to a place above it all, but a loving, compassionate response to life.
If I’m God, why do I need a bird’s eye view?
The poem is beautiful and very moving, VJ. I love these photo captures.

Your photo essay complements the Joan Osborne lyrics very well. I’ve always appreciated that song.

Thank Liz. The song sure makes you think.

It sure does. I think if my dad had seen been preaching when the song came out, he would have based a sermon on it.

Seem to recall that the songwriter’s father was a preacher.
