V.J.’s Weekly Challenge #38: What’s In a Name?

As I type up each week’s summary, creating links to various blogs, I am struck by how different blog names are, and compelled to ask: what’s in a name? Specifically, your blog name.

Mine, One Woman’s Quest, comes from a lifetime of searching for knowledge, understanding, and deeper connection. Left mostly to my own devices, I learned early to turn to a higher power and ask questions. I understood that God answers through signs, omens, and messengers, and that it was up to me to decode the response. I never once doubted a divine presence, and I felt compelled to find a path that aligned me with that greater will.

My quests have led me to higher education, and to study esoteric schools of thought. I have travelled many different paths, often non-traditional, and gathered a wealth of experience.

And still, I quest. A statement that no doubt will carry me to my grave.

So now you know.

What’s in your blog’s name?

(Note: even if there is no deep, hidden meaning, I challenge you to make one up – surprise us all.)

If you are new here, please join in. Just create a post in response to the challenge, and link it up to this one.

Look forward to your responses.

Shift

Synchronicity nurturing wonder,
relationships, books, mystery,
accomplishment and celebration –
home.

Conversation, point of view,
personification, questions,
foundation irony,
shadows baseline

Attention gathering
distance river
veil sacrifice
character deviation –
un-lived lives.

The challenge this week was to gather titles from our own writing and reveal a new message through lining them up.  The poem above has been created from the weekly challenge prompts, beginning with the original: shift.

What a week of discovery it has been!  Please check out the writings of each of the contributors:

Thank you to all, and see you tomorrow for another challenge.

Choosing Life

Buying time –
resetting the dial,
deviating from the norm…

a healing place,

here we go again,
600 miles from home,
recharging batteries…

this might have been
an un-lived life.

(My challenge this week is to make poetry from previous post titles.  For this one, I chose to select only the titles that related to our recent journey.)

V.J.’s Weekly Challenge #26: Titles

In the late 1980’s, I began to study the psychology of dream interpretation as offered by our local university.  One of the exercises our professor recommended when doing dream work, was to give each recorded dream a title, and then periodically list those titles, in order, to elicit new understanding.

The assumption behind the exercise was that dream messages originate in the subconscious and seek to inspire personal growth and development.

I would like to assert that all creativity flows from an inner well, and that through art, in any form, we are tapping into that source.  So my challenge this week, is to select from your own work, enough titles, in the order you created them, to find new meaning.

Using my poetry blog as an example, I will demonstrate:

Grey clouds hover,
quit the noise,
filters unfair.
Reverence –
implications of a wink –
I’ll take a slice.

(These are my poetry titles from November 1- 6.)

Play around with it.  Have fun.  Look forward to seeing the results.
