New Baseball Fans

Baseball is big in our town. Home to the Baseball Hall of Fame, we have several diamonds, attracting ball fans from far and wide. This year, we have a family of new fans with a view of their own.

When we first spotted the nest, there appeared to be one young osprey peeking over the top. On a subsequent visit, we noted two. This photo clearly shows three, but I’m not sure we’ve seen the whole crew yet.

More entertaining to me than baseball, I confess.

Permission to write, paint, and imagine are the gifts I gave myself when chronic illness hit - a fair exchange: being for doing. Relevance is an attitude. Humour essential.

  1. We had an American exchange teacher who played amateur league and came here to play in the state squad, he taught us how to play, but I was never fully sold on it. I’d prefer bird watching, and I’m glad to see these.

      1. I agree, I loved watching sport on TV as a kid, but by my late teens I hated the waste of time and the inane commentary. I think golf, bowls, darts, and cycling are top of my list of boring to watch.

  2. LOVE it. I know where all the Osprey nests are along the I-90 route I regularly drive between Seattle and Spokane! One time, I stopped by a beautiful river to check out a noise from my car and was startled by the regal bird diving down from behind me, JUST over my head, into the river, and coming up with a huge fish!

No time for my camera but a beautiful visual memory (and auditory, as I heard the “swoop”!)
