VJ’s Weekly Challenge #115: Pathetic fallacy

Ribbons of colour
line the landscape
raucous revelry

Autumn clouds gather
their brooding silence
threatening celebration

Overnight the wind rose
carried with it the tears
of our imposed isolation.

(Pathetic fallacy is a literary device used to convey emotions/mood through reference to the weather. The poem is my attempt. A better example is the novel, Wuthering Heights, by Emily Brontë, where the setting itself is pathetic fallacy for the tumultuous storyline.)

I will not be assigning grades for this one (lol), so have fun. Be creative! Look forward to your posts.

Permission to write, paint, and imagine are the gifts I gave myself when chronic illness hit - a fair exchange: being for doing. Relevance is an attitude. Humour essential.

  1. The term pathetic fallacy is indeed intriguing – your poem is as well. Too many dark clouds in my head have blocked any rays of coherent thought on the subject from shining through…sorry to say. 😉
