Sunflowers

Lesia, our Ukrainian roommate, planted five sunflowers in the garden below my bedroom window. They are now 8 feet tall and still growing!

Our Ukrainian friends visit and marvel at these giant replicas of their national flower. The symbolism does not escape me.

Permission to write, paint, and imagine are the gifts I gave myself when chronic illness hit - a fair exchange: being for doing. Relevance is an attitude. Humour essential.

  1. VJ, hello – I don’t keep up like I once did – traveling a LOT since Gary retired – but here I sit at campsite in Colorado mountains reading your sunflower post – warmed (again) by your assistance to Ukranians – and by your terrific photos!

    1. So nice to hear from you. I’m glad you are making use of Gary’s retirement. Travel as long as you can – the not travelling times are long, lol. Thanks so much.
