A Wish for Peaceful Resolution

What times we are living in. One for the history books for sure, as 7 million people took to the streets yesterday in support of the No Kings protest.

As an outsider (Canadian), I am pleased to see my neighbours take action, peacefully, to oppose what is happening at a governmental level. I cannot imagine what it looks like from the inside, but from where I sit, it seems the US has been scripting their own demise.

My husband talks of history repeating itself, and I can’t disagree. I am reminded of other uprisings, of other governments prioritizing the wealthy over the well-being of the masses. It has all been surreal.

I’m sure I’m not the only one anxiously watching what will unfold next, and hoping that common sense and humanity preside.

Cheers to all the No King participants.

Permission to write, paint, and imagine are the gifts I gave myself when chronic illness hit - a fair exchange: being for doing. Relevance is an attitude. Humour essential.

  1. I believe the politicization of formerly non-partisan government agencies (particularly the ā€œjusticeā€ department) is going to create a serious backlash in the midterm elections next year. All this sending troops out domestically is also going to bite this administration’s ass. People may have thought they wanted this, but the reality has some rethinking.

      1. Laws can be rewritten by those who have the power to override them, unfortunately. The so-called ā€œchecks and balancesā€ envisioned by the founders were poorly written and only held up while there were people with scruples in power. It was a tough job they had to do and too many compromises spoiled the soup, as it were. When I cook, one substitution too many makes an inedible dish!
