Permission to write, paint, and imagine are the gifts I gave myself when chronic illness hit - a fair exchange: being for doing. Relevance is an attitude. Humour essential.
“You can’t catch a break!” These words from the ER doc last Sunday. After a week of “runs”, I finally went to hospital. “When you were here last, there was an outbreak of C. difficile. Pretty sure that’s what this is, but we’ll take a sample and send it to the lab.” C. difficile! “What’s […]
I’ve always loved the killdeer for their acting skills. To lure predators from the nest, the killdeer will pretend to have a broken wing and loudly exclaim in its two syllable cry: kill deer! We had a black lab once who claimed a killdeer as her best friend. The bird would cry out and the […]
Conceived in the midst of unbearable psychological drama, I was the reason for my mother’s marriage to my father – a relationship that would cause us all great pain over the years. A birthday celebration was the highlight of our weekend. One-year-old Tima could not believe we would leave her alone with a cake that size, lol. She also could not fathom why so many people crowded around to watch. A swim afterwards with her Dad brought her around to her old self.
There are many species of warblers, and most I am not able to identify. Google reverse image suggests this is a Blackburnian warbler (likely a female). Most importantly, these little birds always bring such joy. Thanks to Don’t Hold Your Breath for hosting a bird of the week challenge.
