First frost we are plotting –elaborate schemes to escapewinter’s unforgiving chill. Palm trees and blue waters, the flight of parading pelicans –such allure for aging Northerners. Years past, we have travelled far –Europe, Scandinavia, and Mediterranean –this season, Texas has captured our hearts. (For Lens-Artists challenge: my travels.)
It’s Christmas Eve, if you are a celebrating Christian, or an adoptee of the holiday. For some, it is a time of last minute rushing about, for others, celebration, and, if you are like me, it is a time of quiet relaxation. The Canadian Shield, where rugged pines stretch, reach for endless skies, taking root in rocky shores. We set boulders in our gardensto anchor us against untimely storms,or perhaps to remind us of endurancewhen everything else falls away.
