The Joy (and Defeat) of Two Wheels

Two bikes, abandoned in a park –
memories of friendships, and adventures,
the yearning for simpler times.

Family outings, spurred by the onset of nice weather,
the adaptability of wheels for one, or plus one –
maintaining the glory of youth, and health.

Who doesn’t dream of faster wheels – a motorcycle –
the freedom of the open road, nothing between us
and the wind? Glorious, until it rains.
