Something Different

I wile away the long hours –
perpetual passenger –
lens posed for interesting capture:
Why, why, why, asks the overpass,
echoing my own impatience.

In Louisiana, the highway roars –
miles and mile of concrete straddling
waterways, an amazing sight.

My camera and I observe as Spring
reverses itself, green fading to Winter’s
barren aftermath, the familiar landscape
of Ontario’s farmlands welcoming us home.

Permission to write, paint, and imagine are the gifts I gave myself when chronic illness hit - a fair exchange: being for doing. Relevance is an attitude. Humour essential.

  1. Welcome back. Spring is coming. I am counting on that and have been wearing spring jackets to prove it. I loved the photo of roads and waterways. And I also enjoyed the reversing image – travelling through seasons in a novel order.

  2. Fascinating post – reversing seasonal progression – at slower-than-wished pace! Think what we’d miss if we could just teleport ourselves from here to there … though I often wish for that option. I really like your two road images, and the Y-Whys. And the Louisiana pic – brings back memories of driving that from Florida (lived there 17 years way back when) to Texas with my school-age son … both of us needing to pee, nowhere to stop! That stretch seemed endless!
