We have been fortunate that the hawks in the neighborhood seem to avoid our feeders. But most of my cost for feed goes to provide the squirrels, and soon again the chip punks with food.
I don’t know if you plant sunflowers for your birds, but we rim the garden with them, and in August enjoy seeing the gold finches go crazy pulling seeds out of the large seedheads.

Oh, yes, the squirrels, chipmunks, and other critters share in the wealth too. We planted sunflowers last year, but I think the deer got them first.

That is one handsome hawk there VJ! We have hawks in this area as well. I like seeing them, but not in our yard. They seem to like our rabbits and chipmunks a little too much.
