Great pictures, VJ! Posing is the least they can do after messing with your vegetables. Interesting that they are part of the squirrel family.

They’re so cute! We have some of the little rascals too. We use horse troughs for our garden, so the plants are a couple of feet off the ground, but at least one of them is able to stretch up and grab the sides of the container and climb in. It almost decimated our cucumber vines one time, and another, we saw him climbing in so we were able to scare him out before he could do any damage. They’re quite proficient climbers; we saw one at the top of our neighbor’s telephone pole once, probably scared up there by a dog.

I’d never seen them climb before, but makes sense. We just keep remembering that we choose to live in nature. This is what happens.

Scoundrel is the perfect word for naughty little critters. 😊

I can relate!!!! I have deer eating my veggies!!!!

Last year we had to contend with deer. We moved the gardens closer to the house and that has seemed to help. Always an adventure.

I’m getting a fence built so hopefully that helps. I’ve been using deer and rabbit repellent and so far that’s helped.

‘scoundrels’ is a lovely word, one I have not seen for a while

Fitting, I thought.

We’re having difficulties with deer eating a flower bed and landscaping. The vegetable garden is fenced–although I don’t know if deer like veggies in the first place.

I don’t know. They have eaten the sunflowers in the past.

They do look cute here but it’s very naughty to spoil your vegetable garden.

Lol. They are indeed naughty.

Arthritis forced me to move to elevated garden beds. They are about thirty inches tall and seem to foil most of the critters.

Good idea. We are evolving here. A few elevated beds.

I’ve had good luck with the metal ones from Veggo. I also have some wooden ones, but they need reinforcement beyond what the instructions call for, but they are very nice.
