Backyard Birds

Hard to pick favourites when it comes to birds. I love the shocking contrast of the White-Crowned sparrow’s head feathers.

The cowbird is not a usual sight at our feeders, so a nice welcome.

Waking up to find a pair of bobolinks in our yard was a first for me.

I never tire of our backyard visitors. What are your favourites?

Permission to write, paint, and imagine are the gifts I gave myself when chronic illness hit - a fair exchange: being for doing. Relevance is an attitude. Humour essential.

  1. Love your photos, VJ! I’m terrible, terrible at identifying birds. We have a few hummingbirds – they’re easy to identify but we’re also seeing a flurry of finches – I think – with sweet orange creamsicle-like underbellies. Gorgeous! Thanks for these beautiful visuals this morning! 💕

  2. We get some brilliantly colored goldfinches that are always fun to watch, but the cats sit inside and love to be teased by the chickadees that know darned well that the cats are behind the screen and can’t do a darned thing.
