If I said that I have been lyinghere, for three hours now, willing my body to move, that would elicit unsolicitedadvice and tarnish my “fine”. I’d berate myself for breakingmy promise not to moan, knowing that complainingprovokes a compulsive […]

These are great, VJ. Have been adding an additional element to blind contour self-portraits. With my non-dominant hand, I trace my features, usually starting with the nose, and then draw the blond contour with my dominant hand. I like your idea of doing one a day. I wonder if you can tell your mood from the variation of a day’s sketch. Interesting.

Doing the touch blind portrait is very cool. We did that in class too, but I’d forgotten. I definitely can see something about my mood of the day in the drawings.

I like doing those too. These are much more composed than mine ever are. (K)

It was so interesting to see all the different ones in the course. I’m a minimalist, I think.

Thanks Liz. It’s so interesting to see what emerges and a good lesson in letting go of control.

I used to teach drawing, and contour drawing was always one of the favorite segments for my students. They are fun! And a great way to develop eye / hand coordination. 🙂 Happy Sunday, VJ. It will be Thanksgiving soon. I’m missing home.
