Maple Leaf

Tracing the lines of your perfection,
I remember, childhood discoveries –
wax paper and hot iron,
the smell of fresh raked pranks,
and what it means to be Canadian.

I no longer make leaf art,
nor partake of Autumn cleanup,
but I have not forgotten
the power of your symbolism
and how far we have yet to go.

(For Cee’s Flower of the Day. )

Permission to write, paint, and imagine are the gifts I gave myself when chronic illness hit - a fair exchange: being for doing. Relevance is an attitude. Humour essential.

      1. I’m so sorry V.J.! I’ll check it out and see if I can figure out what’s going on. If I can’t figure it out, I’ll check with the Happiness Engineers and see if they can find out what’s causing the issue. Hope you’re doing well sweet friend!
