Appreciation and acknowledgment. Two things I liked to affirm at the end of my workshops or classes. To each individual participant I’d offer gratitude for one thing I’d gained from them and acknowledgment of their journey by offering a wish.
As we welcome in a New Year, I thought this exercise would adapt well here. So:
- Choose 1 – 3 bloggers that you wish to appreciate and acknowledge. ( I’ll demonstrate here.). 2. State your gratitude for that person by choosing one specific way in which they have touched your life. 3. State a wish or gift that you would like to give them in return. 4. Make sure to create a link so others can visit.
Let me demonstrate with a blogger whose absence has me concerned:
To Olga at Stuff and What if… , I thank you for the gift of beauty that your creativity always expresses. If I could give you one thing, it would be healing for your pain. I miss you and care about you.
And to another, who doesn’t participate here, but always takes time to comment:
To Elizabeth Gauffreau, I thank you for your critical perception, so important to me in developing my craft. I wish for you the energy and inspiration to complete your next work.
And to Jazz at Steps and Pauses whom I have had the pleasure to get know one-on-one, I thank for the priceless gift of your friendship, and I wish for you unhindered travel and deepening wisdom.
Excited to read your posts. To participate, all you have to do is publish a post and link back here, or leave a comment below.
(Please note: I’ve made a couple of changes to the challenge: a) removed the number (who cares, right?) and b) will not be doing the Sunday wrap up. I will continue to comment on individual posts and for this challenge will offer my own thank you and wish to all who participate.)
Get the idea! Let’s start the New Year off with appreciation and acknowledgment.
Good way to start up the new year, which is now about 13 days.
Yeah, I’m checking out posts this late 🙂

Okay, but you are only 1/2 done. Now you have to state a wish or gift you would offer each.

Will do, VJ! I had a computer failure and had to do a restore! It failed early this morning and I just got it back to almost working status an hour ago. I was working from my smaller laptop when I commented on your post. 😬

What a great idea! Thank you for the appreciation and the best wishes for my work, V.J.
I thank you, V.J., for writing poetry that speaks to experiences I’ve had in ways I never could. My wish for you is progress on your memoir.
I thank Colleen Chesebro (https://wordcraftpoetry.com/) for introducing me to syllabic poetry and encouraging me to try it. Writing tanka helped me with the grieving process after my mother died, and I’ve forever grateful to Colleen for that. I wish her much happiness and renewed creativity after her recent move to Michigan.
I thank Rebecca Budd (https://teatoasttrivia.com) for the opportunity to participate in her podcast Tea, Toast, and Trivia, as well as her positive and giving spirit. She also has the curiosity of an inquisitive child, which I absolutely love about her. I wish her many more years with her mother Frances.

Hi, Susi! I am still pondering hosting a weekly challenge. If I do, it will be published on a different day and I will eliminate the wrap-up. I enjoy hosting a challenge but it is time consuming. 💖

Thanks, Susi! I had a computer failure yesterday with my same troublesome laptop. I did a complete restore which took hours so we’ll see how it goes. I have a lot to catch up on. 😉

That’s why I have decided not to do the wrapup too, Eugi. Most challenges don’t.
