Going through the comments on this post, I’m having this feeling that the diners are becoming extinct in American society.
Is that true?
As for my country, we have tea cafes instead of diners. Also, roadside food vendors offering variety of items.

Still lots of diners where I live in Canada. Plenty of tea/coffee shops too. Fast food is popular.

Love the photo of the old diner. I remember a diner that we frequented when I lived in New Jersey and the food was excellent. Wow, simpler times. Sigh.

I remember diners as have a green formica counter with white wear patterns where customers rested their arms. And pie.
