One of my favourites. The day my mother confirmed she was ready to die, I was tasked with calling the MAiD doctor, the funeral home, and so on. This Rosy Grosbeak with its large pink heart, stayed close by, as if to reassure me. He reappeared at my kitchen window the day we returned from the funeral and I have not seen him since.

(Bird of the week challenge)
Nature comes to our help when we need it. A lovely bird.

How touching, VJ! It seems critters know when they are needed – perhaps, an instinctive trait.

That’s a very touching story. Condolences on your loss. This special bird (an eastern species) has visited us a couple times here in SW Colorado.

That must have been so hard on you. It’s good the grosbeak was there for you.

It was a surreal day, for sure. I am so proud of my Mom, though.

I did not know it happened that quickly with your mother. My sincere condolences, VJ. This must have been very difficult for you. Visitations from cardinals at the time of someone’s passing are very well-known. I’ve never seen a grosbeak before. He is very sweet and special.

Very sweet bird – usually they stick to the deep woods, shy of humans
