Big Chute Marine Railroad

We managed a four-day vacation, travelling north to visit friends near Muskoka. Lovely, calm days spent waterside, catching up on our lives.

As a side trip, we visited Severn Falls, Big Chute Marine Railroad. A simple. yet effective, construction for moving boats from one lake to another. Amazing to watch.

Permission to write, paint, and imagine are the gifts I gave myself when chronic illness hit - a fair exchange: being for doing. Relevance is an attitude. Humour essential.

  1. That would be very cool to see! I didn’t know we had one in Ontario.

It made me think of the Pontcysylite Aqueduct I visited this summer in Wales. It was built in the 1800s as an industrial route across the River Dee. Now it’s a world heritage site and long boats and kayakers cross it. It’s amazing what engineers can design!
