What times we are living in. One for the history books for sure, as 7 million people took to the streets yesterday in support of the No Kings protest.
As an outsider (Canadian), I am pleased to see my neighbours take action, peacefully, to oppose what is happening at a governmental level. I cannot imagine what it looks like from the inside, but from where I sit, it seems the US has been scripting their own demise.
My husband talks of history repeating itself, and I can’t disagree. I am reminded of other uprisings, of other governments prioritizing the wealthy over the well-being of the masses. It has all been surreal.
I’m sure I’m not the only one anxiously watching what will unfold next, and hoping that common sense and humanity preside.
Cheers to all the No King participants.
Thanks VJ. We appreciate your support! (K)

I believe the politicization of formerly non-partisan government agencies (particularly the ājusticeā department) is going to create a serious backlash in the midterm elections next year. All this sending troops out domestically is also going to bite this administrationās ass. People may have thought they wanted this, but the reality has some rethinking.

It’s all surreal. Nothing lawful about it. I hope this is resolved soon.

Laws can be rewritten by those who have the power to override them, unfortunately. The so-called āchecks and balancesā envisioned by the founders were poorly written and only held up while there were people with scruples in power. It was a tough job they had to do and too many compromises spoiled the soup, as it were. When I cook, one substitution too many makes an inedible dish!

It was inspring to see events happening world-wide! Too bad it’s all too late, there are too many people with power who are willing to kiss cheato’s ass.

I hope it’s not too late. I do think it will be a long time for US to regain trust globally (at least with allys)

Adelaide streets were relatively quiet during the protests but things got rowdy in Melbourne but Melbourne is a basket case as it was during Covid —-
