Contemplating a Tree

Meditation, a former teacher of mine said, is as easy as contemplating a tree.

Imagine its roots running deep into the Earth
grounding and nurturing

Imagine its branches reaching towards the sky
bending with the breezes

Imagine yourself
deeply rooted
touching the sky,
strong and calm.

Permission to write, paint, and imagine are the gifts I gave myself when chronic illness hit - a fair exchange: being for doing. Relevance is an attitude. Humour essential.

  1. I read somewhere about a guy that spent 10 hours a day for 10 years meditating while staring at the wall. When asked what he achieved he said he got very good at staring at walls. 🙏
