I Did a Thing…

The rut of waiting on medical tests and future appointments compelled me to do something drastic…

…so I jumped onto Tik Tok and started posting videos.

Seemed pretty innocuous at first. I only had a handful of followers. My two daughters and one grandchild. A couple of friends, and some unknowns. I had no intention of joining the noise of political rants or complaining. I wanted to do something funny.

I started to follow some accounts that I found entertaining or informative. It proved to be a good distraction, until everything changed. I woke up one morning to many notifications. Hundreds of new followers. Someone saw my videos and thought I was funny. Shared it to her 250K followers.

I’m now at over 900 followers and growing. Who knew?

If you are on Tik Tok, drop by @grannyvj. It’s a side of myself that just doesn’t come through with words only.

p.s. As a Canadian, I cannot make money on the app. It’s purely for the smiles.

Permission to write, paint, and imagine are the gifts I gave myself when chronic illness hit - a fair exchange: being for doing. Relevance is an attitude. Humour essential.

    1. It took me a lot of coaxing from my kids, but turns out my daughter and I can exchange videos, and I’m hearing from old friends. Funny the walls we put up, never realizing what lies beyond them.

      1. Exactly!
We citizens are considered stupid. Almost anything we use at home from phone to washing machine, has components made in China. But the government feels we will buy into the eyewash of banning Chinese apps or Chinese clothing brands as a patriotic act!
