Junk Drawers

I’m attending Restorative Yoga classes. It is yoga positions totally supported. Relaxing. Focus on breath and on releasing tension.

We do something called supported fish (I think) – lying face down with a bolster under our hips. “Our junk drawers”, the instructor says and I almost laugh out loud. The last time I went for body work, my therapist asked me what was going on with my hips. Now I know.

Apart from my junk drawers, the rest of me is surrendering to the process.

Permission to write, paint, and imagine are the gifts I gave myself when chronic illness hit - a fair exchange: being for doing. Relevance is an attitude. Humour essential.

  1. Yikes! Trying to visualize face-down and hips bolstered … my neck is aching just considering …

I’ve tried yoga a couple of times and abandoned it … too much pressure (no doubt intended as encouragement) … but maybe I would fit better in restorative yoga. Thanks … you’ve got me rethinking options!

    1. There is no way I could do regular yoga. This is no pain. All exercises can be adjusted for your needs. Nice to hear from you. How is your hip?
