Fellow blogger, Leslie Noyes (Praying for Eyebrowz) has a quirky style that often brings a smile, so I was curious when she published a book to know if I’d have the same response. I put Mayhem at the Happy Valley Motor Inn and Resort on my Amazon wish list and was excited when the 490 page volume arrived. What a delight!
Imagine recovering from the sudden death of a husband only to find out that he’d put all of your joint money into purchasing a fishing resort, without your knowledge. This is what happens to Paula Arnett, or Goldilocks, as her beloved husband like to call her. To make matters worse, Paula also discovers that the transaction was made at the bequest of another Mrs. Arnett. Could her husband have been married to two women at the same time? And how does one grieve the loss of a cherished spouse when it has been revealed he held such secrets?
Paula is bent on getting to the bottom of this mystery, so with her best friend Cassie in tow, she sets out for the Happy Valley Motor Inn and Resort and the mayhem ensues.
Leslie Noyes has succeeded in writing a light hearted tale that shines a comical light on the prejudices and misperceptions of current society. From juggling nudists to the serious issue of death and dying, Noyes writing is warm and refreshing.
