525: the number of displaced Ukrainians on my list needing hosts.
525 out of the 300,000 who have applied for refuge in Canada.
I am one of a team of a dozen.
7 days ago I hit a wall. The pain just doesn’t want to subside. So now my team is -1.
The numbers haunt me.

The numbers are scary and sad. I am sorry to hear you have pain but I want you to know I am impressed with what you have accomplished so far.

Thanks Sarah. I think it’s time to pass the torch. I want to spend time checking on some of the people I’ve helped and building relationships.

A power piece VJ, highlighting the impact not only of war on the individuals, but also on those supporting them in various ways 💜

Your contributions to date are significant! Taking care of self must come first, to enable care for all the others in your life (Canadians and Ukrainians). I’m encouraged that Canada is taking in so many – fingers crossed all who want the move can find a receptive home. Take care (and pat yourself on the back for all you’ve done!)

I’m sorry to hear you’re dealing with pain, VJ. I hope it subsides soon. Speaking of numbers, I find it distressing that the war in Ukraine has dropped to a lower level of importance in news reporting.
