Brief Encounter

We’re off to the city to pick up a car for our Ukrainian family. Ric has been on a mission to locate and purchase suitable vehicles for the many families here who need transportation but have limited funds.

Yesterday, we were looking at houses for rent. Tomorrow it’s a Professional Development day for teachers, so child care will be on the agenda. There is always something that needs to be done, and I find myself dreaming about the days I can hibernate again – lost in my own thoughts, moving at a snail’s pace.

I did find an hour this week to take to the back roads with my camera, where I encountered this beautiful Bald Eagle. I managed to get right under the tree he was perched on before he decided to flee. Little things that sustain me.

Hope you all find pockets of solitude and/or delight in your day.

Permission to write, paint, and imagine are the gifts I gave myself when chronic illness hit - a fair exchange: being for doing. Relevance is an attitude. Humour essential.

  1. An amazing shot! What a thrill! It is wonderful what you are doing for those families. I totally understand your desire for solitude with your thoughts. Whether it is the back roads or my early morning walks under the stars, those are exactly the moments I need to recharge.
