Life as Art Form

Art is an act of intentional attention.

The poet invites the senses, observes the flow and twist of words, injects emotion and insight.

The painter studies colours, the nuance of shadows, looks for focus and textures, creates a tone.

The musician listens, attends to harmonies, gathers rhythms and composes.

The photographer selects details, alters the lens, presents images conveying story.

Similarly, living is a creative act. Life is not static, and we are called to respond to the ever-changing landscape, drawing from our values and beliefs. When we learn to dial down the rage, and attune to the unspoken rhythms, we can appreciate the calling. Bringing our attention fully into the moment, we become artists: our expression intentional.

Permission to write, paint, and imagine are the gifts I gave myself when chronic illness hit - a fair exchange: being for doing. Relevance is an attitude. Humour essential.
