I decided to ignore the tugging signs and drive the car the short distance to the river. The day was overcast, so I reasoned that the light would not bother my eyes. Some things are not meant to be.
Lifting my camera to shoot the heron lingering in the shallows, I realized that my right eye would not focus. I had to trust the autofocus of the lens. I clicked anyway. Pointing where I thought there was something interesting, till my head started to spin again.
“Not a chance, Lady!” The heron’s message was clear.
I turned around and went back home.
I hate to admit it to myself, but I am now limited by a new health challenge. Even as I type, the words refuse to come into focus. Screens are not my friends.
Like the heron in the photograph, I will be on the sidelines, flying in and out as possible.
Sending good wishes VJ.

Did she have vision problems too? I am waiting for Neurologist appointment, but who knows how long that will be. Right now, just frustrated.

Yes she did, VJ! Her vision would blur, she couldn’t read. Attacks would be sudden and random, sometimes if standing on an incline (she golfs) and could last for days (unable to get out of bed). Her family doc gave her some head exercises to do which helped (rolling and turning her head specific ways etc) and a homeopathic Vertigo remedy called ORANGE naturals (one of a few brands) especially helpful – used for regular dosing and acute symptoms. I hope this helps while waiting to see a neurologist! (Sounds like you’re in Canada like me(?))

Yes, I’m in Canada. They have ruled out the BPPV (Vertigo that responds to the exercises). The attacks are debilitating for sure. In my case, they are thinking the spells are a result of the eye problems, but I wait – for MRI and consults. Sigh

Oh gee, sounds like a long haul! Hope you get those diagnostics sooner than later. My neighbour across the street lowered his wait time for a hip replacement by 5 months by being a squeaky wheel, reminding his doc of his pain and inability to do things that were important to him. Sometimes too you can jump the line by showing up in Emergency or Health Centre (ours is Oceanside in Parksville, BC – my dad was sent from there for an MRI at Nanaimo General right away, they squeeze you in if the doc thinks you need it). Anyway, good luck VJ, sending love!

Sorry to hear about your new challenge. I will be happy to hear you whenever you can make it to the screen. IMHO the photo is amazing. On the sidelines but also engaging.
Hugs,

I wish there was something other than a ‘like’ button when my heart just wants to send love…not a ‘like’. Please take good care. Thinking of you! 💕

Oh, no. Perhaps this is just temporary? Have you been to an eye doctor yet?

Thanks Susan. I have been to the eye doctor – problem is not related to my eyes but an underlying disease yet to be determined. Waiting on Neurologists
