Three years ago today, I dragged myself out of bed, and with the aid of my walker (and likely a wheelchair), I paid a visit to a local doctor/ practitioner of Functional Medicine.
Getting out in those days was a huge ordeal, and typically entailed a backlash that would last weeks. I was that sick. I was also desperate.
I found the notes on that early visit when searching through my archives, looking for an interesting anniversary in response to this week’s challenge.
My family doctor had cautioned me against hoping for too much, but this new doctor, soft spoken, listened to me intently, and took the time to explain, and then, we made a plan. A plan for recovery! Something I had not thought possible.
Three years ago today, I found renewed hope.

How grand to have found such a man! I have my light, too, she saved me. The others kind of sloughed it off. Do you wonder why they do that? Happy Anniversary, V.J., a very happy one indeed!

Thanks, Dorinda. I think it’s an ego thing – not wanting to admit they don’t know. I’ve been given some damaging information from “experts” not in the know. Better they had just said so than make something up.

I think you’re right. But they took an oath. I don’t think anything in that oath says give no hope… shame on them.

All it takes sometimes is that one little flicker to re-ignite hope. I’m so glad you found that in your functional medicine doctor.

Blessed is a good word. It takes a year or more to get in to see him, but I put my name on a waiting list and was lucky enough to get in earlier.

I’m fairly sure a functional medicine doctor would do me worlds of good … but also cost a bundle … I need to do the searching and be sure of that cost assumption. You’ve just lit a flame …

not cheap here – but we are not used paying out of pocket for health care. definitely worth it.
