Trauma (tanka)

Took some time to re-evaluate where my energy goes, as my health has been deteriorating lately. The one thing Myalgic Encephalomyelitis teaches is that energy for anything (be it mental, emotional, or physical exertion) is limited. Trying on a stripped back existence in order to reset. That has meant limited screen time.

“The idle mind is the devil’s playground” was my father’s favourite saying, and I have to admit that there is a correlation between quiet times, brought on by increased pain, and the recurrence of traumatic memories.

I’m working through it all, and will continue to prioritize health and well-being. Hope you are all keeping well these dreary days of Winter.

Permission to write, paint, and imagine are the gifts I gave myself when chronic illness hit - a fair exchange: being for doing. Relevance is an attitude. Humour essential.

  1. I have chronic back pain and chronic side effects from chemotherapy. I just picked up a new allergy that killed my energy after we moved. We do need to constantly re-evaluate our lives. I’m with you, VJ. Hope you have some good days!
